Upholstery Scrap bags & Utensil Carriers

Set For Life was borne of the thinking that every human that eats ought to always have their own cutlery on hand. I have carried mine with me for years and find it so handy to never need to take plastic utensils. They're just always in my lunch bag or purse! The flimsy case for them fell apart after a few years, and when I made my own out of more durable leather, I thought it would be a great item to make for others. Wouldn't it be an amazing little rite of passage for a child or teenager to receive a beautiful set in a durable holder they can carry and travel with for years to come? With deliberately no embossing or branding, these products could be passed down, gifted and reused until they naturally wear out.

The artists, Marci, works with a local upholsterer here in the Cowichan Valley.  They end up with a lot of off cuts from every project, many of which are usable but too small for furniture or pillows. There is currently no fabric recycler on the island and it's financially- and environmentally-prohibitive to send it to the mainland. (They also only take pieces over a certain size, and many of the leftovers we have are under that minimum.) So, she's always trying to come up with ideas for responsible usage.
